Your electric car has far fewer moving parts compared to an ICE car but the basic design of many components are shared between electric and ICE cars, brakes, suspension and tyres in particular still require attention, you may find you need to replace your tyres more often than a conventional ICE car, this is due to the instant torque delivery that's a feature of EV's and the increased weight from the battery.
Our EV servicing is based on a service inspection that involves the usual checks of all the safety critical components, our technicians will also complete a visual inspection of your vehicle's high voltage cables to ensure their secure and free of damage.
Like ICE vehicles, many EV's have a coolant system but instead of cooling an engine, it cools the battery, as part of the inspection we'll check (and if necessary top up) your EV's coolant level and of course we'll check the level and condition of your vehicle's brake fluid which brings us nicely onto the topic of brakes.
Almost every EV uses regenerative braking, this means you'll likely find your brake pads and discs will wear more slowly as in theory, you'll be using them less but this reduced usage presents it's own challenge with brakes becoming 'sticky', this in turn can shorten your vehicle's range so as part of the service, we'll remove your vehicle's brake pads, clean the calipers, lubricate the pads and refit them.
Wheel alignment is a challenge for all vehicles, the effects of misalignment can vary from a crooked steering wheel to premature tyre wear, for EV's misalignment has the added frustration of reducing range, our silver service is priced to include a quick alignment check using our Hunter system with our Gold service priced to include our full Hunter four wheel alignment service, you can read more about wheel alignment here.
We appreciate that vehicle manufacturers have slightly different servicing requirements for their cars, if you book your EV in for a service with us, one of the first steps our technicians will take is to check the manufacturers specific servicing schedule for your vehicle, if any additional attention is required (over and above what's included in our servicing package) we'll be in touch to advise you accordingly, please contact us if you have any questions.
The following add-ons are available with our Servicing Packages, just let us know when making your booking.
